About the Job:

The American University of Kuwait is seeking an experienced Academic Admissions Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for handling all external student recruitment and prospect marketing initiatives for the Office of Admissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate schedules and daily operations with the Director of Admissions
  • Greet walk-ins, answer phone calls, emails, and inquiries, providing admissions-related information in a clear and accurate manner
  • Develop relationships with prospective students, their parents, high school counselors, and officials
  • Build relationships with prospective students through various channels, encouraging them to apply
  • Coordinate secondary school recruitment and visitation plans with schools in the assigned territory
  • Conduct interviews with prospective students to assess their suitability and compatibility with AUK
  • Manage prospective student data collection and entry into Banner and related recruitment technologies
  • Responsible for identifying the correct admission categories for all applicants, ensuring they meet AUK's admission criteria and Private Universities Council requirements
  • Generate admission letters and communication pieces through the communication flow in Banner
  • Develop and run queries to ensure quality control functions
  • Initiate the Transfer Credit Evaluation process for transfer applicants
  • Generate reports to support quality control functions
  • Make all admission decisions in Banner, ensuring consistency with AUK admission standards and Private Universities Council requirements
  • Synchronize applicant files with the Banner record before transferring student data to the Office of the Registrar
  • Audit admitted and registered students' files before transferring them to the Office of the Registrar
  • Train Office of Admissions staff, ensuring cross-training and teamwork among departmental staff

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop admissions recruitment materials
  • Recruit Government Scholarship applicants
  • Manage Admissions Events and Exhibitions during and after working hours, occasionally on weekends
  • Manage the Academic Scholarship
  • Manage Office of Admissions responsibilities for the Placement, Advising, and Registration (SAR) process
  • Manage the Government Scholarship Program through the Council of Private Universities, Ministry of Higher Education
  • Manage Transfer Credit Evaluations for students transferring from institutions not accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education
  • Accurate Banner and Self-service data input
  • Assistance with ADM quick flow data input into Banner

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office software required
  • Understanding of integrated information systems, accessing data through query, and running quality control reports to ensure data integrity
  • Experience in college/university admissions or recruitment is preferred
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic skills
  • Ability to present information interactively to a group and/or facilitate interactions within a group
  • Methodical and logical approach to manage priorities, deadlines, and workload
  • Presentation skills to represent AUK effectively
  • Ability to deal with walk-in and telephone enquiries throughout the workday
  • Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required
