Project Management Professional

Main Purpose of Role:

The role is responsible for leading a project management team to support clients in managing awarded engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts.

The main scope includes the upgrade of a power station located within driving distance of a major city. The station has facilities for power generation and water production, with plans for future expansion to neighboring power stations.

The position, along with the project management team, is based in Kuwait.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage EPC contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) requirements.
  • Ensure correct application by EPC contractors of design criteria, drawings, standards, conventions, and design guidelines for projects.
  • Coordinate reporting of progress, performance, and resource allocation by EPC contractors.
  • Coordinate pre-construction conferences, briefings, and presentations.
  • Active oversight and management of construction and commissioning activities.
  • Verify EPC contractors' monthly invoices.
  • Ensure timely internal and external reporting.
  • Guarantee client satisfaction through successful project delivery, paving the way for long-term client relationships and repeat business opportunities.

Key Relationships:

Internal Interface

  • The PMS Project Manager will report to the MEA PMC/PMS SL Director and have regular interaction with the company's project internal support team.

Client Interface

  • The PMS Project Manager will interact with the Client's Project Director and relevant personnel based at the power station.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to lead effectively, motivate, and influence others to adopt company, client, and project objectives.
  • Creative, conceptual, and inductive reasoning abilities for effective problem-solving.
  • Excellent ability to express self-confidently, clearly, fluently, concisely, and persuasively in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to anticipate situations ahead and identify and proactively resolve/action both obvious or hidden obstacles and/or opportunities.

Knowledge/Experience (Skills):

  • At least 25 years of prior project management and project engineering experience in FEED and EPC projects.
  • Prior experience as a project manager at a similar level is preferable.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Packages, particularly Word and Excel.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to an engineering degree (minimum). Project Management certification is preferable.
