We are seeking an Academic Program Coordinator to join our team at the American University of Kuwait. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and make a positive impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and support students who require accommodations or psychological assistance, providing clear information about our services.
  • Carry out initial interviews with new students to assess their needs, using structured questionnaires and interviews.
  • Routinely redirect students to the most suitable counselor based on their specific requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication by accepting, filtering, and routing incoming phone calls and emails related to the Counseling Center.
  • Develop and maintain reports analyzing student service activities, ensuring accurate data-driven insights.
  • Organize various aspects of the Clinic and Art and Music Therapy Rooms, coordinating schedules and daily operations with the Director of the Counseling Center.
  • Create and modify documents such as invoices, memos, letters, and financial statements using word processing software.
  • Collaborate closely with members of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, supporting events like Orientation, Awards Night, and Graduation.
  • Manage inventory of departmental supplies, reconciling purchase orders and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Support project-based work and department events, planning and coordinating logistics.
  • Supervise Student Employees in the Counseling Center, guiding them through the selection process, timesheet maintenance, and daily job duties.
  • Organize regular events and mental health awareness campaigns within the Department.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and assist with fiscal administration, including office budget management, student labor oversight, and purchasing responsibilities.
  • Serve on University committees and fulfill other assigned tasks.

Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience in a college counseling center or a similar function.
  • Experience working with college students addressing personal issues, interpersonal relationships, family, and social problems.
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social and behavioral science, psychoeducation, social work, health management, or a related field.
  • Effective communication, leadership, and team orientation skills.
  • Critical thinking, judgment, relationship management, and writing abilities.
