We are seeking an experienced Senior Telecommunication Systems Specialist to lead our team. This is a physically demanding role that requires a strong understanding of telecommunication systems and procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision for junior telecom technicians and guide them while working in the field.
  • E nsure all team members are aware of their responsibilities and provide communications support to the COR and local customer.
  • Oversee daily operations of work assignments for Outside Plant/Inside Plant personnel.
  • Resolve or troubleshoot problems and/or issues with any type of installation.
  • Use various test equipment to isolate, identify, analyze equipment trouble, and take appropriate maintenance action.
  • Respond to emergency service requests affecting all communication systems.
  • Understand flow charts, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain excellent customer service skills.
  • E nsure all safety rules and regulations are followed by the team.

Requirements:

  • Education/Certifications:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Secret Clearance
    • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and host nation Driver's License, is required.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 Years experience as a Telecommunications Technician, installing, trouble shooting, repair, splicing, terminating, and conducting site surveys
    • 3-5 years' experience in the use of power tools and various test equipment
    • 3-5 years' experience reading communications drawings/diagrams
  • Skills:
    • Professional demeanor, work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle, and other supervisory levels of management; customer service training
    • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, collaborative work style that will foster cooperation and teamwork, work independently with little or no supervision;
    • High-level organizational and planning skills, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written;
    • Advanced level of computer skills in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
    • Ability to analyze and solve complex telecom issues/problems;
    • Fully understand the communication installation processes;
    • Good listening, verbal, and written presentation skills;
    • Effectively communicate technical information in English, both written and oral.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Will lead a team of approximately 8-15
  • Working Conditions:
    • Capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit;
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions;
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well;
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents;
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations;
