Telecommunication Lead Specialist

This is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in telecommunications technology and be able to lead a team of technicians to ensure smooth operations.

The Telecommunication Lead Specialist will work closely with the project team to design, install, and maintain telecommunications systems. This includes ensuring that all equipment and software meet industry standards and are properly integrated into existing systems. Additionally, the specialist will provide training to junior technicians on new technologies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior telecom technicians.
  • Oversee daily operations of work assignments for Outside Plant / Inside Plant personnel.
  • Resolve or troubleshoot problems and/or issues which may occur with any type of installation.
  • Able to use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action.
  • Respond to emergency service requests affecting all communication systems.
  • Able to understand flow charts, equipment manuals and technical documentation.

Qualifications:
Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Secret Clearance
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Kuwait Heavy Duty Driver's License.

Experience:
  • 3-5 Years experience as a Telecommunications Technician, installing, trouble shooting, repair, splicing, terminating and conducting site surveys.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the use of power tools and various test equipment.
  • 3-5 years' experience reading communications drawings/diagrams.

  • Customer service training; must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Collaborative work style that will foster cooperation and teamwork.
  • Possess high-level organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

Working Conditions:
Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
