The Environmental Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Spill Response Team to ensure the protection of people and property during emergency situations. This includes assisting with medical incidents, hazardous materials management, and soil remediation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to spills of hazardous materials and blackwater, assessing areas for environmental impact and submitting reports.
  • Manage operational duties for the hazardous waste section, collecting and submitting report data.
  • Take the lead on Quality and Safety issues for the Hazardous Waste Section.
  • Develop Environmental Plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions (WIs) for Spill Control Management.
  • Oversee POL contaminated soil remediation and landfarming.
  • Assist with management of Hazardous Waste and Materials.
  • Ensure Above Ground Storage Tanks are inspected regularly and oversee the process.
  • Conduct recurring environmental and hazardous/waste inspections, inventories, verifications, and training programs.
  • Participate in Safety and Quality Committee meetings and functions.
  • Verify hazardous material/waste inventories and prepare inspection reports.
  • Formulate reports and develop statistical information to support management decisions and proposals.
Requirements
  • Must have 5 years of experience in the Environmental/Safety field, preferably in Spill Response.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Experience managing a Hazardous Waste Storage Area (HWSA) and HAZMAT Pharmacy Program.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and perform tasks that require heavy lifting (up to 65 pounds).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
