About the Job

We are seeking a highly experienced Start-Up and Commissioning Manager to join our team at Sommerman Skinner Associates (SSA Limited). The successful candidate will have a strong background in commissioning and start-up operations, with experience working on multi-disciplinary teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To manage a team of Deputy Project Managers - Commissioning working on Multi Water and Wastewater Treatment Projects and Main Pumping Stations Projects.
  • To ensure that commissioning and start-up activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical standards.
  • To identify and mitigate potential risks associated with commissioning and start-up activities.
  • To develop and implement effective commissioning and start-up strategies.
  • To provide training and guidance to junior staff members.
  • To maintain accurate records of commissioning and start-up activities.

Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline from an accredited University or a professional license in an Engineering discipline or sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general Engineering or an appropriate Engineering discipline to meet job requirements.
  • Solid background and expertise on EPC Projects, specifically on Waste & Wastewater Projects.
  • Technical knowledge of start-up operations, maintenance, and/or testing, including development of commissioning and start-up manuals and associated method statements.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of both engineering and start-up methods, coupled with knowledge of computer applications related to close-out and resolution of engineering problems.
  • An extensive knowledge of precedents in the start-up and operations areas and a broad knowledge of principles and practices of related areas.
  • A broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to start-up, maintenance, operations, or testing.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to travel and has a passport that allows travel flexibility.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership.
  • Broad progressive work experience to the degree necessary to perform responsibilities outlined above aligned with commissioning, initial start-up, and operation activities or other relevant experience in design engineering, construction, field engineering, or plant operation in industrial, process, or marine facilities.
  • 15 to 20 years of experience in similar field.
