About the Role

The Commissioning Operations Specialist will be responsible for managing a team of Deputy Project Managers - Commissioning working on Multi Water and Wastewater Treatment Projects and Main Pumping Stations Projects. The primary objective is to ensure that commissioning and start-up activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To plan, develop, coordinate, and direct start-up activities for water and wastewater projects.
  • To assist with the identification of handover systems and establish priorities and sequence of completion.
  • To review during the construction phase the status of testing and punch listing to ensure systems are turned over to commissioning and start-up in a smooth, safe, and efficient manner.
  • To interface with Client's operation staff and keep them informed of system completion status.
  • To supervise, coordinate, and review the work of assigned engineers, estimate staffing needs and schedules, and assign work to meet completion dates.
  • To prepare or direct the preparation of operations manuals.
  • To ensure that work being performed is within scope of services and within budget.
  • To input to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure start-up requirements are incorporated into water and wastewater project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure plant operability and operating personnel safety.
  • To coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval on work as it is accomplished.
  • To review and approve key start-up methods, procedures, and schedules on assigned waste and wastewater projects.

Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline from an accredited University or a professional license in an Engineering discipline or sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general Engineering or an appropriate Engineering discipline to meet job requirements.
  • Solid background and expertise on EPC Projects, specifically on Waste & Wastewater Projects.
  • Technical knowledge of start-up operations, maintenance, and/or testing, including development of commissioning and start-up manuals and associated method statements.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of both engineering and start-up methods, coupled with knowledge of computer applications related to close-out and resolution of engineering problems.
  • An extensive knowledge of precedents in the start-up and operations areas and a broad knowledge of principles and practices of related areas.
  • A broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to start-up, maintenance, operations, or testing.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to travel and has a passport that allows travel flexibility.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership.
  • Broad progressive work experience to the degree necessary to perform responsibilities outlined above aligned with commissioning, initial start-up, and operation activities or other relevant experience in design engineering, construction, field engineering, or plant operation in industrial, process, or marine facilities.
  • 15 to 20 years of experience in similar field.
