Environmental Sustainability Specialist

This role is responsible for implementing a standardized environmental health and safety program, which is management system based.

The successful candidate will perform risk assessments, develop programs that exceed basic regulatory compliance, identify required training for employees, conduct inspections, and implement employee recognition programs.

This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Reads and understands regulatory compliance and submits necessary documentation.
  • Communicates with senior management, area supervisors, and regulators to implement a comprehensive environmental health and safety program.
  • Executes an Environmental Services Program for LOGCAP V and monitors military units conducting training exercises.
  • Ensures design projects comply with environmental and health regulations.
  • Writes reports on environmental efforts.
  • Advises management on environmental best practices.
  • Collects and analyzes environmental data.
  • Carrries out site assessments to determine environmental impact.
Qualifications
  • Education/Certifications:
  • BA/BS degree or higher in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or Geology from an accredited college or university.
  • Military background and training beneficial.
  • Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver's License.
  • Must be CAC eligible and/or have the ability to obtain a CAC.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience, hazardous waste management, and pollution prevention.
  • Knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), Department of Defense (DoD) environmental regulations, and US Army Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Indoor and outdoor environment with adverse and harsh conditions.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
