Kuwait City, Al Asimah V2X Full time

Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs a broad range of telecommunications cabling media, including coaxial, fiber optic, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), and main feeder cables (200, 400, 600 pairs, etc.). Installs cable racks, conduit, Panduit, and other support structures for cable protection and aesthetics. Tests cables for signal quality, continuity, and availability. Terminates and splices both copper and fiber optic cables. Reports to Work Center Supervisor or Site Lead. Program: OMDAC-SWACA.

You must satisfy all host country requirements to legally work in the host country to qualify for this position.

Responsibilities
  1. Pull telecommunications cabling through various building architectures, including buried conduit outside plant, routed between buildings, ceilings, raised floors, and cable trays.
  2. Operate trenching and heavy equipment as outlined in the performance work statement to meet mission requirements.
  3. Terminate Category 5 UTP, coaxial, and fiber optic cables at designated work stations, telecommunication closets, and distribution frames.
  4. Prepare telecommunications rooms/closets as central and secondary distribution nodes for cabling networks.
  5. Install hardware such as cable trays, ladder racks, J-Hooks, and D-rings to support cable pulls.
  6. Test and certify cabling using ohm meters, toners, and OTDRs.
  7. Splice copper and fiber optic cables.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues like continuity, noise, signal loss, improper termination, and intermittent problems.
  9. Maintain cable records, use database software like Remedy, interpret drawings, and recommend upgrades.
  10. Work environment includes 60% indoor, 35% outdoor, and 5% in manholes and handholds, requiring climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and driving over rough terrain.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Requires an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; one-year related experience may substitute for one year of education if degree is required.
  • CPR training (provided by contract).
  • Fiber Optic repair course preferred.
  • Requires 5–7 years of experience in cable, telephone, and LAN installation and repair.
