Key Player in Middle East Retail Expansion

Sephora, a leading beauty and personal care retailer, is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to drive its expansion in the Middle East region. As a key member of the global legal team, this role will provide strategic legal advice and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Job Description:
The Senior Legal Counsel will report directly to the regional CFO and have a dotted line with the Global General Counsel based in France. With the support of one direct report, the successful candidate will closely partner with business stakeholders in the region and the global legal team to achieve Sephora's goals in the Middle East market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and Negotiating Commercial Agreements: The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including distribution, logistics & transport, lease agreements, IT contracts, and other service/consulting contracts.
- Leveraging Data Privacy Compliance: This role will focus on implementing data privacy compliance program roadmaps in the region and advising business stakeholders on collecting, processing, and using data privacy.
- Implementing Ethics & Compliance Programs: The Senior Legal Counsel will deploy Sephora's global Ethics and compliance program roadmap in the region, working closely with the local E&C committee.
- Counseling Business Teams: Providing legal advice and risk analysis to various business teams, including marketing, communication, merchandising, expansion, digital, and IT teams.
- Managing Corporate Secretary Activities: Overseeing corporate secretary activities, including pre-litigations and litigations.
- Monitoring Regulations and Best Practices: Staying up-to-date with new regulations, developing legal awareness, and promoting clear communication among business teams.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in business law, with at least 10 years of experience in a similar role within a large omni-retail company or luxury sector. Fluency in English and Arabic is required, with French being an asset. Strong knowledge of regulations in the Middle East, particularly competition laws, commercial, marketing & promotion practices, sustainability topics, and lease agreements, is essential.
