Job Description

As a key member of the Career Services team at American International University, the Professional Development and Employer Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering strong relationships with regional employers to expand internship opportunities for AIU students and graduates. This position requires a highly organized individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who can effectively facilitate on-campus recruitment events and manage database management functions.

About the Role
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Student Affairs, Counseling, Human Resources, Sales, or a similar area. With 1-3 years of experience in recruitment and selection practices, community relations, economic development, or related fields, this professional will have a proven track record of building effective relationships with employers, promoting student participation in internship programs, and developing targeted marketing campaigns to enhance program visibility.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing assistance to students seeking internship opportunities, including guidance on registration processes and conducting pre-and post-internship workshops.
• Designing and implementing strategies to develop employment relationships with corporate recruiters and hiring managers, leading to increased internships and full-time employment opportunities for students.
• Managing recruitment functions, including site visits to evaluate learning and work environments, consulting employers on required skills and competencies, and engaging with community and economic development organizations.
• Assisting with the development of policies and procedures in compliance with fair and equitable recruiting and selection standards, and collecting and maintaining internship participation data for stakeholder reports.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, and employers. A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is also essential. Additionally, you should be able to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Career Services.
