About the JobThe Fire Prevention Specialist will work on a physically demanding position located in Kuwait, supporting the LOGCAP mission. This involves ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards, and UFC guidelines for fire protection systems.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct Thorough Facility Inspections: Perform site visits to identify potential fire hazards and document findings, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Review Building Plans: Ensure compliance with fire protection systems, regulations, and industry standards through thorough plan reviews.
- Maintain Fire Extinguisher Program: Participate in the exchange program to ensure all equipment is up-to-date and functional, adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Deliver Comprehensive Training Sessions: Educate Facility Managers, Fire Wardens, and other personnel on fire safety protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices.
- Coordinate Acceptance Inspections: Collaborate with the DPW team to verify that fire protection systems meet regulatory requirements during final acceptance inspections on new constructions and renovations.
- Document Inspection Findings: Accurately record inspections and testing of wet pipe sprinkler systems, highlighting areas for improvement.
- Develop Environmental Safety Programs: Work closely with the ESH team to create effective environmental safety and health programs.
- Support Fire Investigations: Assist in developing long-term strategies for protecting personnel, facilities, materials, and equipment from fire hazards, following AR 420-1 specifications.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of experience in fire prevention, including work as a Fire Inspector or Prevention Specialist.
- Certifications as a Plans Examiner are highly desirable.
- A Bachelor's degree in Fire Science is preferred but not mandatory.
- A valid U.S. passport and a valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain U.S. Government and host nation driver's licenses.
- Ability to pass a physical exam, background check, and possess a Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required, and a valid driver's license is necessary for the position.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in word processing and computer applications, with knowledge of occupancy classifications, fire hazards, and occupant load factors.
- Familiarity with fire department operations, safety protocols, fire alarm systems, fire behavior, extinguishers, PPE, water supplies, hazardous materials, fire prevention, and cause determination.
You will be exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, and hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, high places, and chemicals. The job requires light work, involving exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and minimal force constantly.
