About the Job

As a Project Commissioning Manager with Sommerman Skinner Associates (SSA Limited), you will be responsible for managing commissioning and start-up activities of water & wastewater projects. This includes supervising commissioning and start-up activities on the project, planning and directing start-up engineering assignments, and ensuring that work being performed is within scope and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct start-up activities for water & wastewater projects.
  • Provide start-up assistance at the jobsite.
  • Assist with identifying handover systems and establishing priorities and sequence of completion.
  • Review construction phase status to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient handover to commissioning and start-up.
  • Interface with Client's operation staff to keep them informed of system completion status.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of assigned engineers, estimate staffing needs and schedules, and assign work to meet completion dates.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of operations manuals.
  • Ensure incorporation of start-up requirements into project management, engineering, and construction activities.

Requirements

  • A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline from an accredited University or a professional license in an Engineering discipline.
  • Solid background and expertise on EPC Projects, specifically on Waste & WasteWater Projects.
  • Technical knowledge of start-up operations, maintenance, and/or testing, including commissioning and start-up manual development.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of both engineering and start-up methods, coupled with computer applications related to close out and resolution of engineering problems.
  • An extensive knowledge of precedents in start-up and operations areas and a broad knowledge of principles and practices of related areas.
  • Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to start-up, maintenance, operations, or testing.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to travel and hold a passport allowing travel flexibility.
  • Demonstrated leadership skill.
  • Broad progressive work experience aligned with commissioning, initial start-up, and operation activities or other relevant experience in design engineering, construction, field engineering, or plant operation in industrial, process, or marine facilities.
