About the Role
As a key member of the American University Of Kuwait's Counseling Center team, we are seeking an exceptional Higher Education Professional - Academic Support Specialist to provide administrative and planning support for our department. This role is ideal for someone with experience in higher education settings, who is passionate about delivering exceptional student services.

About You
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently, and prioritize multiple tasks will be essential in this role. If you have experience working with college students, particularly in addressing personal problems, interpersonal relationships, family and social issues, then we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist students requesting accommodations or psychological support by explaining the services offered by the Counseling Center.
- Conduct initial interviews with new students to assess their needs based on questionnaires and structured interviews.
- Redirect students to the appropriate counselor according to their needs (disability vs mental health problems).
- Manage incoming phone calls and emails to the Counseling Center, ensuring timely responses and effective communication.
- Develop and maintain reports analyzing various activities related to student services, providing valuable insights for departmental decision-making.
- Coordinate schedules and daily operations with the Director of the Counseling Center, ensuring seamless execution of tasks and projects.
- Create and modify documents such as invoices, reports, memos, letters, and financial statements using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Collaborate closely with members of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, including Orientation, Awards Night, and Graduation events.
- Maintain inventory of Department supplies, reconciling purchase orders and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Plan and support staff in assigned project-based work and department events, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Manage Student Employees in the Counseling Center, overseeing selection processes, time-sheet maintenance, and daily job duties.
- Organize regular events within the Department, as well as mental health and disability awareness campaigns, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
- Monitor, reconcile, and assist with fiscal administration, including office budget, student labor, and purchasing, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance.
- Serve on University committees and perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
- One to two years of related experience in a college counseling center or a closely related function.
- Experience working with college students in addressing personal problems, interpersonal relationships, family and social issues.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social and behavioral science, psychoeducation, social work, health management, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively counsel/advice students in academic areas.
- Leadership and team orientation, with a critical thinking and judgment approach.
- Strong relationship management and writing skills.
