Fire Apparatus Mechanic Specialist

Job Description
- This position is responsible for the recovery, repair/replace, maintenance, and services of fire trucks and mini pumper squad trucks in support of military operations.
Responsibilities
- Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain tandem drive axles with air.
- Tune gas and diesel engines, service fuel filters and turbochargers.
- Maintain service logs and records of fire truck apparatuses. Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Diagnose problems, disassemble fire truck accessories, and make repairs or replace parts.
- Repair brakes, replace shoes, pads, drums, hoses, calipers, and heavy-duty air brakes.
- Perform electrical repairs or replace fuses, batteries, lights, instruments, warning devices, controls, switches, modules, alternators, starters, and defective cables and wiring.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and host nation Driver's License are required.
- Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Level I within 90 days of hire.
Working Conditions
- Capable of working in extreme weather conditions exceeding 120°F.
- Indoor and outdoor environments with harsh conditions, including hot, dry, desert environments with temperatures averaging 30°F in winter and 130°F in summer.
