Overview

This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Under the general supervision of the Transportation Motor Pool (TMP) Supervisor, this position is responsible for the recovery, repair/replace, maintenance, and services of Fire Trucks and mini pumper squad trucks throughout the theater of operations in support of the Contract.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain tandem drive axles with air.
  • Tune gas and diesel engines, service fuel filters and turbochargers.
  • Maintain service logs and records of fire truck apparatuses. Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
  • Diagnose problems, disassemble fire truck accessories, and make repairs or replace parts.
  • Repair brakes, replace shoes, pads, drums, hoses, calipers, and heavy-duty air brakes.
  • Perform electrical repairs or replace fuses, batteries, lights, instruments, warning devices, controls, switches, modules, alternators, starters, and defective cables and wiring.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year of related experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.

  • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Level I within 90 days of hire.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and host nation Driver's License are required.
    • Experience: Three years' experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
    • Knowledge of conducting routine services and vehicle maintenance on Non-Tactical equipment.
      • Skills: Ability to assess potential damage risks to inoperable equipment while being towed or transported.
      • Ability to safely and effectively operate hydraulic equipment and power winches.
      • Ability to read military and civilian maps.
      • Proficiency with all forms of test equipment related to the job.
      • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills.
      • Discretion and good judgment, especially when transporting vehicles.
      Working Conditions
      • Capable of working in extreme weather conditions exceeding 120°F.
      • Indoor and outdoor environments with harsh conditions, including hot, dry, desert environments with temperatures averaging 30°F in winter and 130°F in summer.
      • Includes some industrial production environment conditions.
      Physical Requirements
      • Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
      • Heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing and sitting, and working in areas with potential exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
      • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required in some situations.
      • Compliance with all Fire and Safety Regulations and policies.
