Job Description

L&T Power Transmission & Distribution is seeking a Design Engineer for our Transmission Line Engineering Team in Kuwait and KSA.

Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering
Experience
  • 3-7 years in designing and detailing transmission towers (types) and foundations
Objective

The Design Engineer shall review and execute engineering activities for the complete design of transmission line towers, civil foundations, and associated structures. They will work with a team of draftsmen and PEMs to ensure project deliverables are met on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather all inputs necessary for design activities within their scope.
  • Read and interpret technical specifications, identifying relevant clauses related to tower and foundation design.
  • Review and ensure the optimum design before client submission.
  • Control quantities and optimize civil and structural quantities.
  • Coordinate with project execution teams to resolve issues.
  • Witness tower testing at various test beds.
  • Prepare BOQ and design documents for pre-tender stages.
  • Obtain client approval for all design documents post-award.
  • Maintain engineering documents according to ISO standards.
Technical Expertise

Knowledge in route selection, profiles, sag, tension charts, and design of transmission line towers, foundations, and gantry structures. Ability to review and design detailed drawings for TL towers, including all foundation types. Familiarity with domestic and international codes (Indian Standards, BS, UBC, ACI, ASCE). Capable of selecting test load cases and preparing stringing charts.

Software Skills
  • Proficiency in PLSCADD, PLS Tower, STAAD Pro, PLS Pole, Global Mapper, TLTSOFT.
  • Excellent MS Office skills and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
