Overview***This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP***

Under the supervision of the Telecommunication Projects Supervisor and/or Communications O&M Supervisor, the Telecommunications Technician Lead will direct the work of others and ensure tasks are completed per industry standards and company policies. The Lead will design, install, troubleshoot, and maintain company telecommunication systems and adjunct equipment. Must demonstrate a clear understanding of concepts and procedures associated with best practices in the telecommunication field and provide training on telecommunication equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  1. Provide supervision for junior telecom technicians and offer guidance in the field.
  2. Ensure all team members are aware of their responsibilities and that they provide communications support to the COR and local customer.
  3. Oversee daily operations of work assignments for Outside Plant / Inside Plant personnel.
  4. Resolve or troubleshoot problems/issues with any type of installation.
  5. Use a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, analyze equipment trouble, and take appropriate maintenance actions.
  6. Respond to emergency service requests affecting all communication systems.
  7. Understand flow charts, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  8. Maintain excellent customer service skills.
  9. Ensure all safety rules and regulations are followed by the team.
  10. Perform other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications

Education/Certifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent. One year related experience may substitute for one year of education if degree is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance, and hold a valid driver's license. Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Kuwait Heavy Duty Driver's License.

Experience: 3-5 years as a Telecommunications Technician, with experience in installation, troubleshooting, repair, splicing, terminating, and site surveys. Also, experience with power tools, test equipment, and reading communication diagrams.

Skills: Professional demeanor, effective communication, customer service, discretion, teamwork, independence, organizational skills, and advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to analyze and solve complex telecom issues and understand communication installation processes. Good listening and presentation skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectively in English.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Lead a team of approximately 8-15 technicians.

Working Conditions

Work in extreme weather conditions, including hot, dry, desert environments, and industrial settings, with temperatures exceeding 120°F.

Physical Requirements

Light work involving exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently. May require heavy lifting, climbing, prolonged standing or sitting, and working with PPE in potentially hazardous environments.
