Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Materials Engineer to join our construction team in Kuwait. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating, testing, and approving construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and Kuwait's local regulations. The role requires a strong understanding of concrete, asphalt, soil, steel, and finishing materials commonly used in the Gulf region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project specifications and ensure all materials used meet required standards (ASTM, BS, ACI, or MPW Kuwait).
  • Conduct on-site and laboratory testing for concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates, and steel.
  • Evaluate and approve materials submittals, Material Approval Requests (MARs), and compliance documents.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and third-party laboratories for material sampling and testing.
  • Monitor material quality on-site and ensure correct storage and handling.
  • Investigate material failures or non-conformities and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical reports, material tracking logs, and quality documentation for client and consultant reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with local environmental and safety regulations regarding materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction or infrastructure project environment in Kuwait or the GCC.
  • Proven knowledge of local materials, testing methods, and construction regulations.
  • Familiarity with MPW, Kuwait Municipality, and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) standards is a plus.
  • Experience with QA/QC procedures and documentation.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills in English (Arabic is a plus).

Preferred Certifications:

  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor (optional but preferred)
  • Membership in Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE)
