Starco International Company is seeking a data-driven and detail-oriented Merchandise Analyst to join our team. The Merchandise Analyst will focus exclusively on product analysis to optimize sales performance, reduce overstock, and align inventory investment with category performance. This role is pivotal in identifying gaps between bought contribution percentages and sold contribution percentages, ensuring our buying strategy aligns with market demand.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and provide detailed buying outlines for brand managers and buyers, including category contributions, size breakdowns, and product allocation plans based on sales data analysis.
• Analyze sales data, stock levels, and sell-through rates for each product category, size, and color to provide actionable insights to the buying and planning teams.
• Develop and maintain detailed category contribution reports, tracking bought vs. sold contribution percentages to identify discrepancies and adjust future buys.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses on slow-moving and fast-moving products, recommending markdown strategies to clear excess inventory effectively.
• Monitor aging inventory and provide recommendations for reintegrating older stock into current assortments, minimizing write-offs.
• Work closely with brand managers to set category contribution targets for upcoming seasons based on historical data and emerging trends.
• Develop product lifecycle management reports to track the success of new launches and seasonal collections, suggesting reorders or markdowns as needed.
• Provide comprehensive reports on product performance by SKU, identifying top and bottom performers by sales volume, margin, and sell-through rate.
• Assist in forecasting future sales by analyzing historical data and identifying key sales drivers across categories.
• Create dashboards and visual reports to communicate data insights to senior management and brand managers clearly and effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Merchandising, Finance, Data Analysis, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in a data analysis, merchandise planning, or inventory management role within a fashion retail company.
• Proven expertise in working with fashion retail data, including product sales analysis, inventory management, and markdown analysis.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
