Aircraft System Specialist

The AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 performs a wide range of maintenance tasks and ensures the aircraft is airworthy at all times. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in various aircraft systems, including structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
- Removal and installation of aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.
- Servicing and lubricating aircraft and subsystems.
- Preparing aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
- Performing scheduled inspections and assisting with special inspections.
- Conducting limited maintenance operational checks and diagnosing aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment.
- Operating and performing maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
- Applying technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation.
- Maintaining and repairing aircraft components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Using technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
- Participating in maintenance test flights and operation checks.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, with certification of education level required.
- A minimum of three years' aviation maintenance experience within the past five years on the AH-64 aircraft is required.
- OR valid FAA A&P Certificate: two years' aviation maintenance experience, three years' rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years' experience within the past five years on the AH-64 aircraft.
- A valid U.S. Passport with three years' validity remaining before expiration and six blank pages is required.
- Able to pass CENTCOM MOD 17 Army Medical deployment clearance.
- Ability to obtain Kuwait Visa PCC.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain US Govt Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. US Citizenship is required for security clearance and facility credentials/authorization to work at this location.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
- Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
- Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and may lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
- Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks.
- Ability to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Ability to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight exceeds 50 pounds.
- Ability to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through software applications.
- Handling dirty parts and lubricants.
- Required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to pass Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
- May operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.
- Ability to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
- Work in maintenance shop or outside environment.
- Exposure to extreme noise from operating equipment.
- Exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
- Expected to work in austere environments and all weather conditions.
