The role of the Army Aviation AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 involves performing a wide range of military tactical aircraft maintenance tasks. This includes repairing and troubleshooting malfunctions in various aircraft systems such as structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies and components like engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Safely preparing aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Performing scheduled inspections and assisting in special inspections.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment.
  • Utilizing technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation.
  • Maintaining and repairing aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Applying comprehensive technical knowledge to restore equipment condition and operation.
  • Participating in maintenance test flights and operation checks.
Requirements:
  • Completion of high school or equivalent is required.
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.
  • A minimum of three years aviation maintenance experience on the AH-64 aircraft assigned within the past five years is required.
  • Or, a valid FAA A&P Certificate with two years of aviation maintenance experience, three years of rotary wing aircraft experience with two years of experience within the past five years on the AH-64 aircraft assigned is required.
  • A valid U.S. Passport with at least 6 blank pages and ability to travel internationally is required.
  • Able to pass CENTCOM MOD 17 Army Medical for deployment.
  • Ability to obtain PCC for Kuwait Visa.
Security Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. US Citizenship is required.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Able to prioritize workloads and lead teams through complex tasks.
