Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Z/VM system administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM z/VM environments on IBM Z mainframes.

This role requires excellent technical skills, as well as strong communication and collaboration abilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/VM operating systems and related components.
  • Manage virtual machine resources, including allocation, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Support Linux on Z environments running under z/VM.
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to z/VM and virtualized workloads.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support business requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior administrators.

Requirements

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in z/VM system administration.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Z architecture and virtualization concepts.
  • Experience with Linux on Z and integration with z/VM.
  • Familiarity with RACF, TCP/IP, and other mainframe networking protocols.
  • Proficiency in scripting (REXX, Shell, etc.) for automation.
  • Understanding of performance monitoring and capacity planning tools.
