The role of Security Operations Lead is a critical position in our organization's cybersecurity team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing time-critical security operations, ensuring events and incidents are responded to effectively, playbooks are followed, and opportunities for improvement are identified and actioned.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our cybersecurity team as a Security Operations Lead. As a key member of the team, you will be aligned with and provide support to the regional IT team. Daily tasks will involve reviewing and responding to security tickets and alerts primarily raised by our SOC. You will also investigate using SIEM and EDR tools to understand and resolve issues.
Daily Responsibilities
- Manage time-critical security operations
- Ensure events and incidents are responded to effectively
- Follow playbooks and identify opportunities for improvement
Weekly Tasks
You will be involved in understanding and planning the remediation of high and critical vulnerabilities identified in the region via tools such as Tenable and Managed Engine.
Monthly Responsibilities
You will support the implementation of projects in the region, risk assessing projects and changes at the earliest opportunity to assist with the design and implementation of relevant security controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily security operations
- Investigate security issues using SIEM and EDR tools
- Plan and implement remediation for high and critical vulnerabilities
- Support project implementation and risk assessment
Requirements
We are looking for a highly analytical individual with excellent organizational, planning, and administrative skills and a good eye for detail. A degree in IT or cybersecurity is preferred, and relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, or others are highly valued. Experience working and learning within a fast-moving, changeable environment with new technology/services/infrastructure/priorities and working practices (processes) is essential. You must have the ability to manage and support a security operations team, manage the performance of third-party service delivery partners, communicate effectively to a range of audiences, and keep abreast of regulations affecting cybersecurity.
