Teaching Role Overview

This teaching position involves empowering students to think critically about historical and contemporary issues, develop a nuanced understanding of global systems, and excel in advanced academic environments.

  • Develop Engaging Lesson Plans: Create standards-aligned lesson plans that encompass history, government, economics, and global issues, fostering critical thinking, analysis, and communication skills.
  • Design Curriculum: Develop curriculum that challenges students to explore complex economic, political, and social systems, promoting advanced understanding and responsible citizenship.
  • Evaluate Student Performance: Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods, including assignments, presentations, debates, projects, and assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Cultivate a Collaborative Classroom Environment: Establish a collaborative and intellectually stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation, inquiry, and diverse perspectives.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues and Parents: Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student growth and address individual learning needs, particularly within the demands of advanced coursework.
  • Mentor Students in Research Skills: Guide students in building sophisticated research, analysis, and presentation skills essential for higher education and future leadership roles.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in Social Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Teaching Experience: Possess proven experience as a high school social studies teacher or similar role.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Placement Coursework: Experience with advanced placement (AP) coursework is highly preferred.
