The Site Safety and Health Officer will operate under the general direction of the project manager. The primary responsibility is to ensure that operations, engineering, and electrical inspection/repair activities are conducted in compliance with applicable Federal, Industry, and Client safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage a safety plan in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual and the accident prevention plan.
- Interface between the client and contractor's project teams and resources.
- Implement accident and loss prevention programs.
- Conduct regular site safety audits to prevent incidents.
- Hold daily safety meetings with on-site personnel (toolbox talks).
- Develop plans, procedures, and programs to meet the specific safety needs of the organization.
- Maintain records of training activities and employee programs, monitoring their effectiveness.
- Maintain records and reporting systems on lost time accidents and property losses.
- Identify loss-producing conditions and practices, recommending corrective action.
- Develop training manuals and training aids for internal use and be able to train employees on fundamentals of the accident prevention program.
- Assist in creating Activity Hazard Analysis.
- Support and comply with all components of the accident prevention program.
- Investigate and keep record of all incidents, injuries, near misses, etc., and submit proper documentation to the project manager.
