Job Description:
This position is responsible for managing the flow of mail, ensuring its secure transportation, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients. As a Mail Services Coordinator, you will be the primary point of contact for mail-related issues and will work closely with our team to ensure that mail is processed efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the movement, sorting, and distribution of mail for various organizations.
- Issue money orders, sell postage stamps, and perform detailed accounting tasks.
- Ensure the secure transportation of mail, load and unload mail trucks, and process mail at designated locations.
- Verify mail pieces on incoming manifests, prepare outgoing manifests, and separate accountable mail from ordinary mail.
- Randomly inspect mailbags and parcels using an x-ray machine, notify your supervisor if suspicious items are detected, and open worker mailbags and letter trays.
- Sort mail by authorized recipients, process service mail using postal required delivery forms, and conduct unit mail calls at prescribed times.
- Provide customer assistance to unit mail clerks, distribute incoming mail to authorized personnel, and redirect mis-sent mail.
- Separate and re-wrap damaged mail parcels, endorse unopened mail, and perform directory services using Standard Pouching and Routing Instructions (SPRINT) charts.
- Manage postal supply functions, including inventory, ordering, and receiving, retrieve outgoing mail from USPS mail drop-boxes, and date stamp and consolidate mail in letter trays or flat baskets.
- Dispatch mail to its intended destinations, process outgoing official mail from base installation mail sections, and operate Retail System Software to provide postal finance services to authorized patrons.
- Provide customer services, explain available postal services, and perform Parcel Inspection functions to ensure compliance with Military regulations.
