Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Mailing Operations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the movement, sorting, and distribution of mail for LOGCAP.
Responsibilities:
- Safeguard all mail.
- Loading/unloading mail trucks, processing Pro-grade and Retro-grade mail at APOs and JMMT, verifying mail pieces on incoming mail manifest, and preparing outgoing mail manifest.
- Separate accountable mail from ordinary mail.
- If an x-ray machine is available, randomly x-ray selected mailbags and parcels, and suspicious mail for incendiary devices and other prohibited items, notifying the supervisor.
- Open worker mailbags and letter trays, sort mail by authorized APOs or assigned units, and process all service mail (insured, certified) using postal delivery forms.
- Conduct unit mail call at prescribed times and assist unit mail clerks as needed.
- Distribute incoming mail to authorized unit mail clerks, ensuring receipt of custody signatures, and redirect mis-sent mail for forwarding.
- Handle damaged or opened mail by re-wrapping, resealing, and endorsing as necessary.
- Perform directory services on mail using SPRINT and CAMALS charts to forward mail appropriately.
- Manage postal supplies, including stocks, inventory, ordering, and receiving.
- Retrieve outgoing mail from USPS drop-boxes, date stamp, and consolidate for dispatch.
- Receive outgoing official mail from the base official mail section.
- Operate or learn to operate Retail System Software to provide postal finance services.
- Provide customer service, explaining postal services to patrons.
- Inspect parcels and letters to ensure they are free of non-mailable items before entering the postal system.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; one year of related experience may substitute for education.
- A valid passport is required.
- A home country driver's license is preferred for obtaining a USG Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) must be obtained for all residences in the past seven years and maintained USG installation access.
- Preferred experience includes military postal, USPS training, cargo shipping, warehousing, or mail room distribution.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- A knowledge of postal procedures and techniques used in Army and base post offices is essential.
- The ability to organize, control, coordinate, and supervise postal operations is crucial.
- The ability to implement work simplification methods is also important.
- The ability to supervise customs inspections and assist in facility inspections as prescribed by the commander is a requirement.
