Armament Supervisor

This position is located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Armament Supervisor is responsible for the operations of the Safe Custody and Small Arms Repair sections, which consists of maintenance personnel performing the full range of work involved in the maintenance, storage, and security of small arms and accessories.
Key Responsibilities- Directs a professional team encompassing a wide range of functions with the Small Arms, Maintenance and Supply disciplines.
- Evaluates staff, comparing objectives and achievements in the assessment.
- Coaches staff on a daily basis, for training and continuous improvement.
- Prepares performance appraisals as required.
- Recommends disciplinary actions when appropriate.
Maintains full accountability of all weapons and devices stored in consolidated arms facilities and ensures high state of physical security IAW all applicable Army regulations and local command policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Supervises and provides guidance to all levels of repair of military small arms for maintenance.
- Plans work schedules, sequence of operations and distribution of work; designates workers and assigns work; explains work requirements, methods and procedures; instructs on new or changed procedures, and assists with resolving problems.
- Constantly monitors repair activities to ensure all procedures are performed safely.
- Immediately stops all unsafe actions.
- Ensures appropriate safety equipment, i.e. safety helmets, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, safety shoes, etc., is used as needed.
Adjusts plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish work as effectively as possible.
Ensures that equipment and supplies are utilized properly.
Provides leadership and guidance consistent with and in support of department/corporate goals and objectives.
Accountable for all assigned government furnished equipment (GFE) to include shop sets, special tools and equipment.
Responsible for maintaining bench stocks and all supply actions for the storage, receipt, issue, and replenishment.
Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications- Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Certifications:
- One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Successful completion of a formal supervisory skills training program is required.
- Ability to obtain host country driver's license.
Must be eligible for Secret NACLC Clearance and/or able to obtain Secret NACLC Clearance.
Experience- Minimum seven (7) years' experience in weapons repair and arms room storage operations.
- At least 3 years supervisory responsibility.
- Must have demonstrated supervisory skills including a professional demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skill is required.
- Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment, with an ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company.
- Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion.
- Must be able to prioritize responsibilities in order to handle a demanding workload.
- Must have strong analytical skills, including the ability to extract, compile and analyze data.
- Requires proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications.
- Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Must be able to anticipate internal client needs.
- Requires ability to communicate in English both verbally and written, at an advanced level.
- Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
- Medium work.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations.
- PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
