This position is located in Kuwait and supports the LOGCAP program. The primary responsibilities of this role include performing inspections of body work, welding, canvas, and machining repairs on various military vehicles and metal fabrications according to Army Technical manuals and AWS Welding Code requirements.

The Allied Trade Inspector may be required to instruct other employees in proper repair and fabrication procedures for military equipment and metals. Additionally, they will inspect welding qualification coupons to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial, in-progress, and final inspections on body, canvas, and welding repairs and metal fabrications to ensure compliance with applicable Army regulations, technical manuals, and industry standards.
  • Conduct field-level technical inspections on fabrication, repair, and modifications of metallic and nonmetallic parts.
  • Supervise welding activities on classified and unclassified components of track and wheeled vehicles.
  • Estimate costs of fabrications as required.
  • Perform visual and non-destructive testing to determine weld quality.
  • Read blueprints, sketches, and modification orders to plan processes and layouts.
  • Determine material types and quantities and order materials as needed.
  • Assist in coaching subordinate welders to ensure compliance with current internal operating procedures and quality regulations.
  • Complete and review work order documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee the welding testing and qualification process, including test plate inspections.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding inspection.
  • Expert knowledge of functions and processes such as preparing an ECOD, ACOD, ECOR, or PQDR.
  • Working knowledge of the Army Corrosion Prevention Program.
  • Knowledge of The Army Maintenance Management Systems (TAMMS).
  • American Welding Society (AWS) certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative work style fostering cooperation and teamwork.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels.
  • High-level communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
  • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook applications.
  • High-level organization and planning skills.
