Job Description

The role of Engineering Manager for Ubuntu Server Distribution involves leading a globally distributed team of engineers responsible for delivering the Ubuntu Server image family.

  • You will work closely with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team, driving innovation and growth in the field of software development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and management of a distributed team, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across locations.
  • Collaboration with Product Management to define product vision and strategy, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Effective stakeholder management, including regular updates and progress reports.
  • Advocacy for modern software development practices, promoting agility and efficiency within the team.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers, preferably with experience managing distributed teams.
  • Strong knowledge and passion for software development, with a focus on innovative solutions and approaches.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Familiarity with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, such as Debian or Ubuntu, and practical experience with at least one cloud platform, including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services.
