About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Support Specialist to join our team at Sperton Global AS. As a Laboratory Support Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting in the analysis of oil and gas samples, supporting the creation of cement slurry designs, and operating laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct chemical and physical analyses of oil and gas samples to ensure compliance with industry standards (API, ASTM).
  2. Support the creation of cement slurry designs based on oil-well conditions.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes and centrifuges, ensuring accurate results.
  4. Provide basic technical support during additive selection and fluid design.
  5. Assist in performing quality assurance tests on products and prepare laboratory reports for service delivery.
  6. Maintain and update the database of slurry tests and designs used in the field. Maintain proper records.
  7. Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations for customers.
  8. Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Ensure laboratory equipment is clean and well-maintained.
  10. Dispose of laboratory waste following environmental and safety regulations and report any non-compliance to a superior.
  11. Assist in identifying and mitigating safety or quality concerns.
  12. Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and maintain appropriate safety training.
  13. Communicate effectively with Client Support Labs, operating locations, and product centers.
  14. Provide support to Design/Technical Engineers and Product Champions as needed.
  15. Participate in Service Quality Meetings and contribute to performance improvement action plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with API and ASTM operating/testing procedures is a plus.
  • Certification as a Laboratory Analyst or equivalent is advantageous.
