Senior Underwriting Manager Role

The position of Senior Underwriting Manager is a key leadership role in our organization, responsible for overseeing the underwriting process and ensuring its alignment with our risk appetite and business objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of underwriters to achieve excellence in underwriting practices.
  • Oversee the assessment, pricing, and acceptance of insurance risks, ensuring decisions are informed by data-driven insights.
  • Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, procedures, and product offerings that meet market demands.
  • Analyze loss ratios, claims trends, and market dynamics to optimize profitability.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, reinsurance, and sales teams to drive product innovation and competitiveness.
  • Manage complex accounts and referrals beyond the authority level of underwriters.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and prepare comprehensive underwriting reports for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Participate in client meetings and broker negotiations to support business development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, finance, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of Property, Engineering, and Casualty underwriting and claims experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of P&C insurance products and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
