Lead Safety Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Safety Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the project, you will be responsible for championing the project safety culture, behaviors, and engagement activities.

  • Champion the Project Safety culture, behaviors, and engagement activities.
  • Report to the PMC Process Manager and work under their direction during the EPC / FEED Engineering and Procurement phases.
  • Report to the Construction Manager and work under their direction during Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up phases.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of EPC / FEED Contractor's Loss Prevention Engineering activities.
  • Review and approve EPC / FEED Contractor's work, ensuring compliance with Contract obligations, Project specifications, relevant codes and standards, design philosophy, and industry best practices.
  • Provide PMC Process Safety and Loss Prevention performance data and reports to PMC Management and the Owner.
  • Provide technical guidance to develop and update specifications.
  • Perform calculations for design validation and optimization.
  • Review technical bid submissions and perform bid analysis.
  • Participate in safety reviews, hazard identification (HAZID, HAZOP), SIL assessments, constructability reviews, 3D Model reviews, safety audits, QRA workshops, etc.
  • Provide Loss Prevention Engineering expertise in developing and analyzing design options and business models.
  • Coordinate with other discipline engineers and provide technical assistance.
  • Participate in pre-qualification, bid evaluation, and performance evaluation of EPC / FEED Contractors and Vendors.
  • Review and ensure quality of safety-related deliverables such as philosophies, datasheets, specifications, layouts, reports, drawings, and risk studies.
  • Review Project-specific Risk Management Systems and criteria related to Process Safety and Loss Prevention.
  • Review HSE Impact Assessments (HSEIAs), hazards registers, bow tie diagrams, and safety performance standards.
  • Review Emergency Response procedures and plans for Loss Prevention inputs, ensuring alignment with Owner standards.
  • Support Construction, Pre-commissioning, and Commissioning phases.
  • Monitor and close out Loss Prevention actions from reviews, workshops, and safety studies.
  • Review technical bid submissions and perform bid analysis for Loss Prevention discipline.
  • Assist in the development of design options and business models, providing expertise and coordination.
  • Handle correspondence related to Process Safety and Loss Prevention.

Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Experience in Refinery and/or Petrochemical projects.
  • Familiarity with FEED and EPC phases of major Engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of Fire & Safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, API, international standards).
