About this Role
  • As a Category Development Specialist, you will be responsible for full ownership of the category management role in terms of Assortments, Pricing, Offers, and Supply.
  • You will monitor economic performance across sales, gross margin, profit, and loss, ensuring consistency with our commercial strategy.
  • Key responsibilities include implementing commercial strategy and strategic guidelines, including categories plan and pricing strategy.
  • You will work closely with the Ops team to develop flows, adjacencies, tools, templates, fixtures, etc.
  • Additionally, you will review and resolve any issues with local suppliers.
Assortment Management
  • Your primary focus will be on ensuring cost efficiency across consumers while meeting their needs and wants.
  • You will define and maintain the local assortment and integrate the basic assortment for the department/categories.
  • You will provide regional teams with information regarding products and quantities needed for international and regional contracts.
  • Responsibilities also include selecting local suppliers, negotiating, and purchasing in line with expected needs guided by standards such as cost price, discounts, rebates, payment terms, etc.
Pricing Strategies
  • You will price items based on pricing guidelines and recommended prices for PL/Imported items.
  • You will collect market prices and conduct country price audits.
Promotions
  • You will identify local promo products and price each item, submitting forecasting/relevant reordering information to replenishment.
  • You will develop the country promotion calendar.
  • You will follow up and ensure effective execution of all activities required for each promotional event.
  • You will analyze and provide inputs for more effective promotional activities such as consumer preferences, local competitors, and trends.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in progressive development and management of multiple product categories, matured by working for large retailers (FMCG), in an international setting.
  • You must be very detail-oriented, structured, and able to prioritize—you consider yourself as someone who delivers solutions and not bottlenecks to be solved.
  • You are able to interact with senior-level executives and can manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders. You are someone energized by the unknown and look forward to learning each day on the job.
  • You have excellent analytical and communication skills, and always like to be hands-on with several tools.
