We are seeking a highly skilled Sheetmetal and Structures Aircraft Technician to join our team at Amentum. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of complex aircraft systems.

  • Maintain, modify, and install various components of aircraft sheet metal, including fabrication and installation of structural assemblies.

  • Repair, rework, and install complex aircraft structural assemblies, both internal and external, using metal-forming techniques and fiberglass materials.

  • Develop and implement plans for modifications, balancing rotary-wing aircraft controls, and applying primers/paints on aircraft surfaces.

  • Perform checks, carry out inspections, and removal of components, studying technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.

  • Assist aircraft technicians and mechanics with various tasks, removing and disassembling defective parts of the aircraft.

  • Perform final checks on assembly and installation of replaced parts, maintaining and keeping track of all maintenance records.

  • Comply with company policies and safety programs, maintaining supplies and performing preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with experienced technicians and mechanics to ensure seamless integration of aircraft systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement plans for modifications and repairs.

  • Use advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with aircraft systems.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders, responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Five years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience (UH-60, CH-47, AH-64) is required.

  • All experience must be within the five most recent years.

  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required.

  • Experience with FAA A&P certificate: Two years aviation maintenance experience, and two years hands-on experience on assigned aircraft MDS UH-60, CH-47, AH-64 is required.

  • Experience without FAA A&P certificate: Three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on assigned UH-60, CH-47, AH-64 Mission Design Series (MDS) is required.

  • A valid U.S. Passport is required for International travel. Passport must have a minimum six blank pages and two plus years validity before its expiration date at time of hire.

  • Must be able to pass CENTCOM medical requirements for Deployment (to attend CRC/DIDC Training).

  • Must be able to obtain Kuwait Visa.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain US Govt Security Clearance Public Trust (NAC-I T1). US Citizenship is required to obtain a Clearance and for facility access and credentials/authorization at the work location.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Basic knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.

  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.

  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.

  • Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanics.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.

  • May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.

  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.

  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.

  • May work in maintenance shop or outside.

  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.

  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.

  • May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.
