Job Description:

Overview: As a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager at Sshic, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of civil engineering projects from initiation to completion. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor the delivery of SSH's Scope of Services under SSH's Contract
  • Report to the RE on a regular basis, including project delivery performance, risks, changes, and resource utilization
  • Ensure all project KPIs are met as set out in the Construction Contract, SSH Contract, and SSH IMS Policies
  • Support the delivery of SSH Scope of Services following best practice project management principles
  • Check and review contractor's shop drawings for structural works, including coordination with other disciplines and regulatory requirements
  • Implement contract documents requirements on site, including design drawings, specifications, Bill of Quantities, and contract conditions
  • Review and recommend progress percentages of discipline activities to the client/CM for Contractor's Monthly Payment Applications
  • Inform the RE immediately if any serious incident occurs that could affect safety, stability, serviceability, or durability of adjacent structures
  • Inspect materials delivered to the project site for compliance with approved materials data/samples
  • Ensure testing of materials is carried out in accordance with project specifications and relevant codes/standards
  • Reject non-compliant materials and ensure removal and replacement
  • Check quality of works to ensure compliance with contract specification requirements, method statements, and approvals
  • Conduct regular periodic inspections at the site to ensure standards are being maintained
  • Prepare snagging lists and conduct testing and commissioning processes in accordance with project specifications and relevant codes/standards
  • Assist in preparation and issue of Taking Over and Final Completion Certificates for building works
  • Interface and communicate with SSH Building Design Division and SSH Support Services to ensure SSH PCMS delivery is not negatively impacted
  • Refer complicated design issues to SSH design office for assistance in review
  • Respond to contractor's RFI's related to discipline works
  • Coordinate with SSH design office if additional design information is required

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor line staff to effectively deliver SSH Scope of Services in collaboration with the RE
  • Derive key personnel retention strategies with the RE
  • Provide a working environment and pastoral care for line staff
  • Consult with the RE on potential opportunities on the project and in the market

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Significant post-contract supervision consultancy and extensive engineering experience
  • Experience and acumen in managing and working effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and multi-divisional teams
  • Good people skills, team management acumen, and stakeholder management ability
  • Command of the English language (written and spoken) and knowledge of Arabic and/or other languages
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering and 10 years of related experience
