COMSEC Repairman

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Under the supervision of the Lead, the COMSEC Custodian/Repairman troubleshoots and repairs all COMSEC/controlled cryptographic devices and other electronic equipment (e.g., receiver/transmitters, both commercial and tactical, circuit cards, telecommunications devices, telephones, teletypes, intrusion detection systems, AOAP spectrometer, and similar items). The Repairman performs field maintenance on intercommunications systems in tactical vehicles, night vision devices, and ground surveillance radars (GSRs). When directed by the Lead or Supervisor, the Repairman performs Field Maintenance on Communications Security (COMSEC) and Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI) materiel, which includes publications, classified and unclassified equipment managed under COMSEC material control systems, and declassified CCI.

1. Test faulty equipment and apply comprehensive technical knowledge to diagnose and resolve complex malfunctions.
2. Use tools such as multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes for testing electronic equipment.
3. Replace defective components and wiring, and adjust mechanical parts as necessary.
4. Familiarity with circuit interrelationships and using judgment in planning work and selecting tools and test instruments.
5. Align, adjust, and calibrate electronic equipment according to specifications.
6. Maintain detailed records of repairs, calibrations, tests, and time spent; create reports and data extracts as needed.
7. Primary repairer of all COMSEC and cryptographic equipment, analyzing datasets for anomalies or quality issues.
8. Use schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer's specifications, along with hand tools and test equipment, demonstrating comprehensive electronic circuit knowledge.
9. Knowledge of communication equipment including SINCGARS radios, cryptographic devices, antennas, and installation kits for military vehicles.
10. Perform field maintenance on intercommunications systems in tactical vehicles, night vision devices, and GSRs.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; formal military or civilian electronics maintenance training; completion of Pace soldering Level I and II preferred; trained on AN/GRM 122 test equipment; ability to obtain a Host Country Driver's License.
• Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Experience: Five years in electronics repair/maintenance, with at least two at the sustainment maintenance level preferred.
• Skills: Cooperative work style, effective communication with diverse personnel, discretion handling confidential info, English proficiency, basic MS Office skills, organizational skills, and knowledge of communication equipment including SINCGARS radios.
• Working Conditions: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including hot, dry, desert environments with temperatures exceeding 120°F.
• Physical Requirements: Medium work involving lifting up to 50 pounds, working in challenging environments, and using PPE as required.
