Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Under the supervision of the Lead, the COMSEC Custodian/Repairman troubleshoots and repairs all COMSEC/controlled cryptographic devices and other electronic equipment, including receiver/transmitters (both commercial and tactical), circuit cards, telecommunications devices, telephones, teletypes, intrusion detection systems, AOAP spectrometers, and similar items. The Repairman performs field maintenance on intercommunications systems in tactical vehicles, night vision devices, and ground surveillance radars (GSRs). When directed by the Lead or Supervisor, the Repairman performs Field Maintenance on Communications Security (COMSEC) and Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI) materiel, which includes publications and classified equipment managed under COMSEC systems, as well as unclassified COMSEC equipment managed within Army maintenance and supply systems, including declassified CCI.

Responsibilities

This description is subject to change as needed to meet program or company requirements.

  1. Test faulty equipment, diagnose malfunctions, and resolve complex problems using comprehensive technical knowledge of electronic systems.
  2. Use tools such as multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to test electronic equipment.
  3. Replace defective components and wiring, and adjust mechanical parts using appropriate tools.
  4. Plan work sequentially, using judgment and experience, and select suitable tools and test instruments.
  5. Align, adjust, and calibrate electronic equipment according to specifications, ensuring error-free data maintenance and project execution.
  6. Maintain detailed records of repairs, calibration, tests, and time expenditure; create reports and data extracts to support data maintenance.
  7. Primary repairer for all COMSEC and cryptographic equipment, analyzing datasets for data anomalies or quality issues.
  8. Use schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications, along with a variety of hand tools and test equipment, with a comprehensive knowledge of electronic circuits.
  9. Possess knowledge of communication equipment including SINCGARS radios and associated cryptographic devices, antennas, and installation kits for military vehicles and equipment.
  10. Perform field maintenance on intercommunications systems, night vision devices, and ground surveillance radars.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: One year of related experience may substitute for one year of education. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of formal military or civilian electronics maintenance training required.
  • Completion of Pace soldering Level I and II training strongly desired.
  • Must be trained on AN/GRM 122 test equipment.
  • Must obtain a Host Country Driver's License.
    • Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
      • Experience: Five years of practical electronics repair/maintenance experience preferred, with at least two years at the sustainment maintenance level.
        • Skills: Ability to foster teamwork, communicate effectively in English, use basic MS Office applications, organize workflow efficiently, and interpret reports and documents. Knowledge of SINCGARS radios and cryptographic devices is required.
          • Working Conditions: Capable of working in extreme weather conditions, including temperatures exceeding 120°F, and in harsh environments such as deserts and industrial settings.
            • Physical Requirements: Medium work involving lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, sitting, climbing, and working with PPE as required. Must comply with safety regulations.
