Job Summary

We are looking to hire our Head of Engineering who will establish technical direction, provide leadership and mentorship to our teams, and ensure alignment of engineering initiatives with our design, product, and business objectives in Kuwait. The Head of Engineering role at Tiqmo will lead a large engineering team while bringing full stack engineering expertise to the table. The role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both backend and frontend solutions for our FinTech applications.

In addition to full stack proficiency, knowledge of cloud and cloud-native environments will be instrumental in shaping the technology strategy and ensuring that our applications are scalable, secure, and highly available.

Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Expertise:

  • Lead by example as a full stack engineer, contributing hands-on expertise in both backend and frontend development.
  • Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions.

Cloud and Cloud-Native Proficiency:

  • Leverage your knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, Huawei Cloud, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native environments to architect and build scalable, resilient systems.
  • Promote cloud best practices and ensure that our applications are optimized for cloud deployment.

Engineering Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and develop professional growth plans for team members.

Technology Strategy:

  • Define and execute the technology strategy, architecture, and roadmaps for both backend and frontend solutions.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

Product Development:

  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle with the product team, from ideation and design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Establish and maintain clear communication channels to foster alignment.

Technical Excellence:

  • Promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to maintain high-quality code and system architecture.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of all applications.

Quality Assurance and Testing:

  • Establish robust quality assurance processes, including automated testing and continuous integration, to maintain software quality and reliability.

Innovation and Research:

  • Encourage innovation and research within the engineering team, exploring new technologies and approaches that can enhance product offerings.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of proven track record in a similar role
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing large engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background in both backend and frontend development as a full stack engineer.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, Huawei Cloud, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native environments.
  • A track record of delivering successful, complex software projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
