FUNCTION:

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the activities of the department within the university including alumni programs, internships, networking opportunities, and alumni data.

PRIMARY TASKS:

  1. Plan, direct, and control the activities of the function or unit to ensure maximum productivity is achieved within the University's standard level of performance.
  2. Supervise, train, motivate and appraise performance of the staff and satisfy individual training and development needs.
  3. Implement and supervise operational standards, coordinate and maintain standard operating procedures.
  4. Act as catalyst for change and improvement.
  5. Identify and champion opportunities to improve efficiency.
  6. Improves team efficiency and department effectiveness.
  7. Comply with AU policies and procedures.
  8. Oversee and manage the AU Alumni and Career Placement Center.
  9. Establish and liaise with local companies to promote internship placements for AU students and graduates.
  10. Create and expand professional networking opportunities for AU students and graduates, to connect them with potential employers and alumni.
  11. Establish and maintain an up-to-date AU Alumni database that includes contact information, employment history, academic achievements and other relevant information.
  12. Enhance and expand alumni programs that include workshops, networking events and large reunion and homecoming events.
  13. Foster and maintain a close collaboration and working relationship with various industries in Kuwait to create employment opportunities for AU graduates.
  14. Liaise with various AU departments to obtain information regarding existing students and graduates who are employment-ready to aid their employment process and search.
  15. Plan career fairs on campus.
  16. Support alumni activities including alumni reunion.
  17. Organize a campus career day with employers for conducting interviews with alumni for the purpose of job placement.
  18. Conduct other duties as required by the Vice President- Academic Affairs.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: To ensure that duties are carried out to a satisfactory standard.

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Undertake tasks under general direction and supervision, based on established practices and procedures, provided by the Vice President- Academic Affairs.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • 6 years experience in relevant field.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and time management skills.
