To manage a defined category or sub-category to continuously improve ranges and promotions and exceed sales and margin targets. Develop a category plan that supports delivery of the customer plan, market share acquisition, excellent availability, and omni-channel leadership.
Essential Job Roles:
- Develop Category Strategy with senior buyer to achieve sales/profitability targets and maximize market share of the assigned category.
- Develop assortment frequently, including brands, products, and agencies, to ensure freshness and improve profitability.
- Regular planogram updates with the merchandising team to ensure effective display principles and sell-out of phased-out/display inventory.
- Train, coach, and develop team members to meet business requirements and support their personal growth.
- Implement promotional strategies through the team and support functions to meet business objectives; review promotional effectiveness and update the team.
- Develop advertising and marketing strategies; implement through marketing; review effectiveness and update the category team.
- Manage order and replenishment processes to ensure optimal inventory, availability, and control of aged stock.
- Support new product development and sourcing for own brands.
- Review and analyze market trends, conduct daily marketing reviews of core competition to ensure competitiveness in assortment and pricing.
- Collaborate with service and support teams to improve business processes and increase customer satisfaction.
- Develop online category and promotional strategies to ensure competitiveness and grow online business.
- Manage supplier relations, negotiate terms, and oversee promotional activities, ensuring timely payments.
- Oversee store layout, display, and space management via planograms and store visits.
- Conduct weekly visits to core stores and competitors with actionable follow-up shared with the wider team.
- Possess in-depth knowledge and experience in managing a consumer electronics category.
- Engage in professional development in retail strategy and category management.
- Exhibit excellent analytical skills to assess market needs and develop effective plans.
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of SAP or Business Objects is preferred.
- Behavioral: Strong relationship-building skills, organizational leadership, drive, and follow-up capabilities.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business preferred.
Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in electronic retailing, with a minimum of 4 years in category management.
