Head of Department – Building Services

To support continued growth, we are currently recruiting an experienced Head of Department for Building Services. Working on high-profile projects and reporting to the Practice Director, your role will be to lead the Department by effectively managing the performance, development, and morale of staff. You will also be accountable for coordinating the production efforts of the Department, in cooperation with other discipline departments, against technical guidelines, standards, and procedures, while maintaining the highest technical and ethical standards and maximizing profitability. People and Growth

1. Develops and maintains a stable, motivated staff with high morale.
2. Hires competent staff, in coordination with the CHRO.
3. Advocates, demonstrates, and demands appropriate professional behaviour and takes corrective action when necessary.
4. Conducts staff performance and competency appraisals in a fair and balanced way.
5. Assists the CHRO in conducting salary reviews and recommending salary adjustments and/or bonuses.
6. Identifies training and development needs and supervises agreed training plans.
7. Develops and implements a succession plan for all key staff.
8. Mentors staff in professional demeanour, technical competence, team building, process improvement, and client relations.
9. Develops new Departmental competencies to support targeted markets.
10. Ensures that Departmental staff CVs are updated on a regular basis.
11. Maintains current registrations of professional staff with the relevant statutory and professional organizations as required.

10. Thorough expertise in the field of Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and working knowledge of allied design disciplines.
11. Bachelor's Degree in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University. Registered/Licensed Engineer affiliated with a recognised professional body such as CIBSE, IMechE.
