This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Assistant Fire Chief (Fire Prevention) and/or Deputy Fire Chief, this role involves supervising, technical, and administrative work in fire suppression and prevention activities. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and coordinating fire prevention services, inspecting facilities for hazards, and developing fire regulations and training programs. The role also involves monitoring inspection programs, reviewing construction plans, and providing technical assistance on fire prevention and building design.

Responsibilities

This position may change as needed to meet program requirements. Key duties include:

  • Conducting inspections in commercial structures and businesses to prevent fires.
  • Investigating fires to determine cause and origin, and completing reports.
  • Educating the public on fire prevention and fire warden duties.
  • Responding to fire hazard complaints and questions regarding fire safety regulations.
  • Surveying fire protection facilities and maintaining inspection records.
  • Training fire personnel in prevention techniques and participating in drills and classes.
  • Instructing on fire equipment operation and care.
  • Supervising and training subordinates as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant certifications such as Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer I, Fire Investigator, Hazmat Awareness, and plans reviewer (preferred).
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain U.S. Government and host nation driver's licenses.

Experience:

  • At least five years of proven experience in fire emergency services as a Fire Inspector or Fire Investigator.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of fire prevention, suppression, safety principles, and hazards.
  • Ability to prepare reports and review construction/modification plans.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises a diverse team of fire inspectors.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in extreme heat exceeding 120°F.
  • Indoor and outdoor environments with harsh conditions, including desert environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • May involve heavy lifting, climbing, prolonged standing/sitting, and working with PPE.
