Role & responsibilities

Testing & Commissioning Activities

  • Plan and execute the testing and commissioning of electrical equipment in substations and transmission lines (up to 400kV).
  • Conduct functional, protection relay, and interlock testing of primary and secondary systems.
  • Perform testing of transformers, switchgear, CTs, VTs, circuit breakers, protection relays, and control panels.
  • Verify scheme drawings and ensure correct wiring and interconnections prior to energization.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare detailed test procedures, pre-commissioning checklists, and commissioning reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, calibration certificates, and field observations.
  • Submit final test reports and assist in the preparation of as-built documentation and handover packages.
  • Coordination & Supervision
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, QA/QC, and client representatives for inspection and testing approvals.
  • Supervise subcontractors and technicians during site testing activities.
  • Support troubleshooting and ensure corrective actions for non-conformities identified during testing.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure that all testing and commissioning works comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, and international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, etc.).
  • Adhere strictly to HSE procedures during testing and energization works.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning and safety walkdowns prior to energization.

Preferred candidate profile

The candidates engineering college, along with the relevant subject/department, must be listed with the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) to be eligible for membership with the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE). This is a mandatory requirement.
