Aquatics Coach

Summary

​The Aquatic Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, choreographing, and leading motivating and safe group exercise classes in the pool using the resistance and buoyancy of water, often utilizing equipment like foam dumbbells, noodles, and kickboards. This role requires strong communication, musical timing, and a passion for promoting health and wellness through low-impact, effective aquatic exercise.

​Key Responsibilities

• ​Instruction & Safety:
• ​Design and deliver a variety of engaging, challenging, and appropriate water-based fitness classes (e.g., Aqua Aerobics, Deep Water Fitness, Aqua Zumba, etc.).
• ​Demonstrate and clearly cue all exercises, including proper technique for using aquatic foam dumbbells for resistance training.
• ​Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of participants to ensure safety and provide immediate correction.
• ​Be knowledgeable about pool depth, entry/exit points, and emergency procedures.
• ​Program Development:
• ​Develop choreography and class formats that accommodate various fitness levels and physical limitations, offering modifications for high and low intensity.
• ​Select and mix appropriate music to maintain energy, pace, and timing for the workout.
• ​Customer Service & Engagement:
• ​Create a welcoming, positive, and inclusive class environment.
• ​Address participant questions, concerns, and needs professionally and promptly.
• ​Encourage class participation and provide ongoing motivation and feedback.

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 4 – 8 per week
