The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the plant. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical machinery, controls, and instruments across production and utility areas. The incumbent will also perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, and adhere to all safety and regulatory standards
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, test, and commission electrical systems, wiring, conduit, control panels, and other electrical components.
- Assist in the design and implementation of electrical layouts for new machinery, plant upgrades, and modifications
- Support commissioning and integration of process equipment, ensuring alignment with operational requirements
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical panels, motors, drives, and process systems
- Diagnose faults, repair or replace defective components, and restore system functionality to minimize downtime
- Conduct load tests, insulation tests, and calibration of electrical instruments as per maintenance schedules
Troubleshooting & Control Systems
- Identify and resolve electrical issues related to control circuits, PLCs, and automation systems
- Troubleshoot wiring faults, sensor failures, and relay malfunctions to ensure equipment reliability
- Support process engineers in control logic and instrumentation troubleshooting
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with electrical codes, plant safety standards, and occupational health guidelines
- Use lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and proper PPE during electrical work
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, or electrical hazards immediately to supervisors
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repair activities
- Update electrical drawings, equipment logs, and preventive maintenance records
- Support audit and compliance requirements by ensuring proper documentation practices
Work Environment & Housekeeping
- Maintain electrical tools, meters, and equipment in good working condition
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department
Education: Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician in a manufacturing, plant or process environment. Air Seperation Unit or Cryogenics would be an added advantage
Technical Knowledge:Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels, and PLCs
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, high-voltage equipment, and electrical codes
