Assistant Laboratory Technician - Cementing

About the Role:

The successful candidate will conduct chemical and physical analyses of oil and gas samples to ensure compliance with industry standards. They will also support the creation of cement slurry designs based on oil-well conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough laboratory analyses of oil and gas samples, adhering to API and ASTM standards.
• Create effective cement slurry designs based on oil-well conditions, collaborating closely with Design/Technical Engineers and Product Champions as needed.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and centrifuges, ensuring accurate results.
• Provide technical support during additive selection and fluid design, working effectively with Client Support Labs, operating locations, and product centers.
• Assist in performing quality assurance tests on products and prepare detailed laboratory reports for service delivery, adhering to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies.
• Maintain a database of slurry tests and designs used in the field, keeping proper records and reporting any non-compliance to a superior.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for customers, communicating complex information in an accessible manner.
• Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to performance improvement action plans.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is clean and well-maintained, disposing of waste following environmental and safety regulations.
• Identify and mitigate safety or quality concerns, collaborating with colleagues to implement corrective actions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
• Familiarity with API and ASTM operating/testing procedures.
• Certification as a Laboratory Analyst or equivalent is advantageous.
