Senior Financial Analyst Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for managing financial performance analysis, including cost attribution, budgeting, forecasting, accruals, cash flow monitoring, and payments processing. This role ensures cost control and reporting are compliant and efficient throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Performance Management: Develop detailed financial breakdowns for projects (labor, materials, equipment). Track and monitor actual costs against the approved budget. Prepare monthly financial reports, analyze budget variances, and provide project progress insights. Proactively reduce project costs and collaborate with project teams for financial efficiency. Evaluate bids and subcontractor proposals to ensure cost-effectiveness. Perform cost-benefit analyses and provide financial feasibility recommendations.
  • Project Support: Align financial strategies with project goals and schedules. Assist in procurement strategies for specialized equipment and services.
  • System and Process Management: Implement and maintain financial control systems to track budgets, commitments, and forecasts. Develop Financial Breakdown Structures (FBS) and integrate them with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: 5-10 years in financial planning and control with intermediate to senior-level experience in financial management, accounting, and analytical skills.
  • Key Skills:
    • Technical Expertise: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with Primavera and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle). Detailed understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, and performance analysis. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Personal Attributes: Proactive, cooperative, and hardworking. Strong negotiation and communication abilities. Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
    • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking). Other languages are a plus.
